"I Highly Approve and Recommend the McKenzie Mechanical Method of PT"
" My experience with the McKenzie Method began April 10, 2017 with an Evaluation. I was having excruciating pain in my back, the right side. This was a result of lifting and carrying a suitcase from the side of a van and then rolling it a good distance from the parking garage to a hospital room for 5 weeks--heavy in and then, heavy out. The pain at the end of five weeks hit me hard. Just trying to exit the bed at home was difficult. I follow the mechanically directed PT exercises every two hours, without fail during the daylight hours and again at night when "Mother Nature" called.
I did find relief and the exercises continued. As an added note, my neck injury from 31 years ago improved, as well, with specific, mechanically directed exercises, another huge relief.
I attend therapy once a week for about 6 weeks. I knew when I was healed. My body told me. I was to attend my last session on 5-22-2017, but, instead, left for a long awaited 3-day trip to Florida.
My experience with the McKenzie Method began again for the SECOND time with another Evaluation on June 1, 2017. Unfortunately, my van was rear-ended and determined to be totaled on the third and last evening in Florida. I saw my Orthopedic Doctor that Friday, 5-26-2017 and then continued PT, again. This time though my pain persisted. I needed assistance to get in/out of bed, assistance to the toilet, a bench in the shower, so I would not fall. I used a wheelchair to go to the Dinner table to eat, so I would not sit too far forward; I would use the wheelchair to prevent falls while alone in the house, as well. At night, I used an aluminum walker to get back and forth to the bathroom to try and be more independent. Two MRI's were ordered. The results indicated that the T-12 vertebra fractured when my van was rear-ended. Time is a healer.
The lesson is to listen to your body. I highly approve and recommend the McKensie Mechanical Method of PT. I am now more in tune with my body, more careful, and more knowledgeable as a result of this experience. The body heals slowly with care." Cynthia M - 09-20-2017
